Baby Joe’s Blanket of Many Colors
After nearly 10 years of crocheting, I can finally say I have crocheted with a Caron cake yarn, and what a beauty she is! I have always wanted to make something out of a Caron cake, but could never convince myself there was a project worthy enough to splurge on the yarn, until this gorgeous crochet baby blanket pattern!
For those of you that may be thinking that this is definitely NOT expensive yarn, you would be correct. However, for most of my life, I’ve been either gifted yarn or just buying what was cheap and convenient. Though each cake is only around $13, my broke college student brain still says, “That likes 8 tacos at TacoBell, let’s get the $3.50 skein.” I tried crocheting my Sunset Shore Crochet Baby Blanket Pattern with the Caron Ombre yarn, but nothing was satisfying my desire to make something from the beautiful yarn skeins that are the Caron cakes.
However, one day I just realized, why wait? Do I really need 8 tacos from TacoBell? Wouldn’t my money be better spent on some beautiful yarn? Throwing financial caution to the wind, and with a pep in my step and my purse in clutch, I scurried over to the yarn section of Michael’s to look for the perfect Caron cake.
And then… there she was… Tropical Breeze. I was in love, and, after consoling my husband who thought I was buying actual cake, we were in business!

The Yarn
Can we just take another moment to admire this beautiful yarn? I just adore how the moss stitch makes each color seamlessly blend into the next, and I am already thinking of new projects for all the different Caron Cinnamon Swirl cakes! Do you have a favorite color? Comment below!
Also, is it just me, or does this skein of yarn halfway through look EXACTLY like the magical stone from Dragon Tales? Does anyone else remember this show? Just me? Alright, let’s just move on.
