Which Crochet Aesthetic Are You? Find Out Which of the 6 Types Fits You Best!
Cutesy, Minimalistic, Retro… what am I? And what crochet designers fit my niche crochet aesthetic? Are you ready to unlock your crochet personality type and discover some to-die-for patterns in the process? Let’s dive in!
I can’t help feeling like we all, myself included, fit a little bit into each one of these crochet aesthetic types, but there are definitely some I find myself gravitating towards more than others. If I had to choose, I’d say my style might be changing from “Cottagecore Vibes” and “Flower Power” to a little bit more “Classic Minimalist,” but, I’m getting ahead of myself.

Bohemian Hippie
You might be Bohemian Hippie if…
- You love crocheting clothing, bags, and wall decor
- Natural 70s vintage colors and lacey designs are your go-to
- Your style is too “old school” or “neutral” to be “Trendy Retro”
Bohemian Hippie will always hold a special place in my heart. I adore the 70s color scheme and I definitely have a crocheted bag or two in my closet. This crochet aesthetic embodies the Coachella, outdoor concert feel with its flowy tops and fringed purses. Such a fun but laid-back style!

Cottagecore Vibes
You might be Cottagecore Vibes if…
- You like making crochet amigurumi projects, especially little ones
- You are obsessed with all things mushrooms, frogs, and snails
- Your style is too “earthy” or “fantasy” to be “Bohemian Hippie”
If I could just hide away in a little forest cottage far far from the rest of the world and crochet little mushrooms, I would. I am absolutely obsessed with this mushroom hat and already am putting it on my “to-crochet” list as we speak!

Cutesy – Kawaii
You might be Cutesy – Kawaii if…
- You also enjoy making amigurumi, especially with thick soft yarn
- Rainbows are your best friend
- Your style is too “colorful” or “cute” to be “Cottagecore Vibes”
I’ve seen Cutesy – Kawaii crochet projects all over Instagram and they have gotten me craving to make some kind of big fuzzy creature to hug everyday! I love how they take animals and give them some kind of food theme… a strawberry cow, a key lime pie turtle… how can you not just die of cuteness looking at these little guys?

Classic Minimalist
You might be Classic Minimalist if…
- You crochet primarily in neutral colors
- Simple designs are your go-to
- Your style is too “modern” or “versatile” to be “Bohemian Hippie”
As I’ve been putting together a wedding registry and planning out my fiancé and I’s future home, I’ve grown to really appreciate the Classic Minimalist crochet aesthetic. It is simple and timeless. Having some neutrals in the home is a must for me, and though I love to go wild with color sometimes for a few donated baby blankets (like this one), I’ve been recently trying to keep to a more Classic Minimalist style for some of my upcoming projects.

Trendy – Retro
You might be Trendy – Retro if…
- You love to crochet clothing items
- Loud and colorful are your two favorite words
- Your style is too “vintage” or “contemporary” to be “Bohemian Hippie”
Trendy – Retro has definitely become all the rage amongst the younger generation of crocheters, with cute crop tops, colorful sweaters, and bucket hats galore! I love the use of color with this style! If you are looking for some fun and exciting additions to your wardrobe, this is your crochet aesthetic!

Flower Power
You might be Flower Power if…
- You LOVE all things crochet flower related
- You are obsessed with learning every variation of granny square out there
- Your style is too “old school” or “nature-inspired” to be “Trendy – Retro”
I am a HUGE fan of crocheted flowers, especially flower granny squares! Sometimes you are feeling like making a pillow, other times you want a bandana, but ALL the times… you want flowers! What’s not to love about a beautiful, colorful, good ol’ crochet flower?
