Forest Sprite Crochet Beanie Pattern
Excuse me for a moment while I go pack my bags, put on this forest sprite beanie, and go find the foggiest forest to hike through and ponder life. Doesn’t this hat make you feel like adventuring with a hobbit or dancing through a field of lavender?

The Story
Do you ever get into those crochet “phases” where you are somewhat obsessed with making the same thing all the time? Right now, I really enjoy making blankets. However, around the time when my now-fiance and I started dating, I was always making hats. Didn’t matter if it was for an adult, a baby, a gift, or for donation, I made them all. Especially with always having so much scrap yarn, making hats was great! Having a fiance who lives in Montana and not having any idea what to get him for Christmas was the perfect opportunity to whip him up one of these hats.
However, my fiance has a unique sense of style, which ranges from ponchos to Matt Murdock sunglasses to crazy socks with his friend’s face on them. Basically, he wears what makes him happy and when I asked if he needed any winter hats this year, his eyes lit up at the idea that his girlfriend was going to make him a custom crochet hat. And so the design process begins!
The Design
The original design displayed above actually had a little leaf on it and used different shades and skeins of brown wool yarn to give it a tree trunk effect, but the final Forest Sprite Beanie Pattern was simplified to a beautiful green shade with an adorable little acorn that will swing along with you as you walk! How fun is that?
Lion Brand’s Wool Ease Thick & Quick Yarn is great for keeping your head nice and cozy! The color Kale is absolutely gorgeous and always reminds me of an evergreen forest. For the acorn, I wanted a cheaper lightweight yarn that would allow for a better size acorn and a cheaper price. The Charisma Yarn by Loops & Threads was the perfect solution! Using just a little bit of Pecan and Taupe made for a great cherry on top, or should I say, acorn on top!
