Her Crochet Christmas Stocking Pattern
If you haven’t already checked out His Crochet Christmas Stocking Pattern post, go check it out here and then come back! In that post I talk about why I love Christmas stockings and the struggles of creating my own crochet Christmas stocking pattern. In this post, I want to talk a bit more about the design inspiration and creation process! Let’s jump in!

Style of Stocking
As I mentioned in my previous post for His Crochet Christmas Stocking Pattern, I was inspired by my aunt, Cheryl Bennett from Crochet 365 Knit Too, who knit each of my family members their own unique stockings. Something about the old-fashioned style of it has always felt nostalgic. I wanted to recreate that same feeling with my crochet version.
Designs on Stocking
I knew before I even sat down and started designing these stockings that I wanted each one to feel like it was uniquely made for us.
For my husband’s stocking, I knew I wanted to include something that reminded us of his home town in Montana where we live right now. Naturally, I had to include the beautiful mountains and green landscape that Montana is famous for.
With my stocking design, I wanted something that would make me feel warm and fuzzy inside every time I looked at it. Recently, we just became cat-parents to the cutest little kittens ever. Two menacing sisters: Mochi and Mousse (notice the theme?). I’ve got a bit too many projects on my plate to make them stockings this year, but I thought this would be a lovely way to include them! As for the hearts, I’ve always enjoyed the little hearts on my sister’s knit stocking (see above) and what’s more warm and happy than some little hearts?
Colors of Stocking
First of all, if you haven’t caught on from my use of this particular yarn in all of my baby lovey patterns, I am obsessed with Yarn Bee’s Soft and Sleek line! They have lots of variety and they are just the right amount of desaturated that I wanted for these stockings.
My husband has always loved the color combination of blush pink and sage green, so I knew that had to be a part of his stocking, but I also loved this bruschetta red… just really brings home the old-fashioned Christmas theme.
For mine, I was in love with this purple haze color the moment I saw it, but I also wanted to share a color with His Stocking so that we had that coordination. The clay brown that I added had no rhyme or reason to it other than it was one of the colors I picked for future stockings and I liked it with the purple and red. What do you think? Would you have done a different color? Comment below!
Adding Names
Due to width, I was a bit limited with spacing for the name. I already knew before designing that it would be nearly impossible to fit “Gabriella” on a stocking unless I tried embroidering it on. Most people know me by the nickname “Gabi” so that was an easy solution for me. You can also easily fit “Mom” or “Dad” on here too. My pattern on Etsy and Ravelry has the whole alphabet! It is also easily customizable, such as making the “I” or “E” wider if you so choose. I also include a blank grid for you to make your own!
Conclusion
I had so much fun making this crochet Christmas stocking pattern! Which one would you make? What colors would you use? Comment below!
