My Secret Garden Afghan Crochet Blanket Pattern – CAL Part 3

We’ve made it! Let’s take a moment to admire your progress… wow. Isn’t it beautiful?

Are you excited to finish up with this border? I always find it so fun to see all the squares pile up as you bust through each one, but once I get to all that connecting it feels never ending. But we did it, and I’m thrilled to show you my ideas behind this particular border and help you finish up your very own scrap yarn afghan!

Behind the Border

With this border, I wanted to incorporate the garden feel that the rest of the blanket invokes, but I wanted to steer away from the simple shell stitch that the petals on the flower square had. I wanted to create a border that made a statement and transported the person using it into a beautiful world of flowers that they could just bundle up underneath and forget their worries for a moment.

Do you ever work on a project for what feels like an eternity and find that even though you have the opportunity to simplify and finish it sooner, you might as well go all out! Even though I had labored over this blanket for so long, I still wanted to give the blanket a unique border that would bring a magical feeling of walking through a field of flowers.

Are you ready to crochet your own flowery meadow? Let’s dive in!
